The First Avatar sequel, which is scheduled to release on May 6, will be titled Avatar: The Way of Water, Disney announced on Wednesday at CinemaCon which is perhaps the most important hint of all time that the long-delayed delayed movie will be scheduled to release on December 16th. We may even have additional evidence soon because we get the teaser trailer first. has been scheduled to premiere along with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will premiere on May 6th.
Here’s Disney’s synopsis for The film, which’s rather unclear:
A decade following the events of the first film the sequel to Avatar The Way of Water begins to recount what happens to the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their children) and the misfortune that ensues as they travel to great lengths in order to protect each other as well as the battles they face to survive and the tragic events they face.
I’d like to draw your attention to this “begins to tell” language as The Way of Water isn’t the only Avatar film that we’re looking towards. Three Avatars, 4and five are still in development and are scheduled to be released within two years of the previous one. I’m not sure of what is in store, but I’m hoping they’re great; after all Director James Cameron once said that the sequels will inspire you to “shit yourself with your mouth wide open.”
The original Avatar was released in 2009 and is amongst the highest-grossing films ever. If you’re not sure of the plot of the movie -you’re not alone – and I don’t blame you if that’s indeed the scenario it is a good thing because Disney is re-releasing Avatar on cinemas on the 23rd of September.
